“And the Oscar goes to…”
Awards’ season is in full swing! This Sunday, February 24th, 2013 will be the 85th annual Academy Awards from Los Angeles. The best and brightest from around Hollywood and the film industry will converge at the Dolby Theatre to celebrate the year in filmmaking achievements. Years of work and production culminate in one night, with recognition and eternal fame awaiting those who claim victory.
The most anticipated category every year is that of Best Picture. This year there are 9 nominees:
• Amour
• Argo
• Beasts of the Southern Wild
• Django Unchained
• Les Misérables
• Life of Pi
• Lincoln
• Silver Linings Playbook
• Zero Dark Thirty
Each film is great and deserving and the show is sure to entertain as hosted by Seth McFarlane. But there is one constant critique of the show every year – the award winners’ acceptance speeches are far too long!
We here at Sapling have a solution to this bothersome problem – installing a synchronized clock system within the theatre and make sure it is within view of the award recipients and host. With the excellent feature of the Sapling Elapsed Timer, a clock within eyesight will be counting down how much time the winner has remaining to speak. This will give everyone the same amount of recognition, help the director and producers keep the show on time and better yet, help avoid the awkward moment when the music starts playing basically requesting the winner to leave the stage immediately!
Have a great weekend and enjoy watching the Oscars festivities on Sunday!
