Sapling Spotlight: Maira Santos, Logistics & Materials Coordinator

Companies value an employee’s ability to be able to organize the logistics of the maneuvering equipment. Being able to help track and ship the products manufactured is of upmost importance. Another key element throughout a company is someone’s ability to be personable, friendly and able to work well with others, bringing a positive vibe throughout the office.

Thankfully here at the Sapling Company, we have found the best of both worlds in one person with our Logistics and Material Coordinator, Maira Santos. She brings a spirit and positive energy to our offices at Huntingdon Valley, Pa and is the subject of the return of our Sapling Spotlight!

1. What do you like best about working at the Sapling Company?
I really enjoy working for Sapling. I really like that I have the best of two worlds here. I have job duties that challenge me, the opportunity to learn and grow with the company and at the same time that we have a very nice atmosphere. It’s great to be able to spend time with genuine, good people while you are getting work done, not to mention, to work for a company where the president is very generous and cares about his employees.

2. How long have you been working at Sapling, and how did you come into your position?
I’ve been here for almost a year and a half. I started as a temporary employee with part-time hours and in a few months I was hired as a full time Sapling employee.

3. What are your job duties at Sapling?
I’m the Logistics and Material Coordinator. I do a lot of different things, which I really like, but my major responsibilities include keeping the std cost for all the items current, inventory reconciliation, invoicing, inventory cycle counts, keep track of outside warehouses stock, etc.

4. What has been your proudest career/life moment?
After a few months of working as a temp, I was offered a full time position at Sapling. I really like working here and it was great to feel recognized for my hard work.

5. What do you enjoy participating in outside of the office?
I recently started taking kickboxing classes and I love it! I also love animals and I used to volunteer at a wild life center and I’m applying to do it again this spring. I’m also hoping to help out at a local cat shelter. I also enjoy cooking, traveling and hanging out with my friends.

6. Give us a unique fact about you.
I’m from Brazil and I moved to the USA about 5 years ago, completely by myself and it was the most scary, adventurous thing I’ve ever done. It’s been a great experience and I’ve met amazing people, seen beautiful places and have found friends that treat me like family. Because of this, it has made the United States feel like a second home.

7. Best advice that you have ever received.
Follow your gut! You can’t go wrong.

Thankfully for us here at Sapling, Maira followed her own gut and ended up right here with us! She is an invaluable member of our team and we are so pleased to work with her every day!

Thank you for all you do for us Maira! Look forward to more features from the Sapling Spotlight in the future!
